EU RoHS Compliance Statement
At totalElement, we certify that our NdFeB (neodymium) magnets are compliant with the European Union Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2011/65/EU as amended by Commission Delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863 (collectively, “EU RoHS”).
All NdFeB magnets supplied by totalElement are manufactured to contain restricted substances below the maximum concentration values set forth in EU RoHS for the ten designated restricted substances.

EU RoHS sets a maximum concentration for ten substances. Our NdFeB magnets are below every one of them.

Obligations for Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) on ECHA’s Candidate List, which is updated regularly.
Annex XVII Restrictions
Applicable limits on substances that can’t be made, sold or used in certain products.
Annex XIV Authorization
Requirements for substances that need specific authorization before they can be used.
Where REACH communication duties apply to supplied articles, totalElement supports compliance through supplier material declarations and, when necessary, additional verification such as supporting analytical data. China RoHS Compliance Statement
totalElement certifies that our NdFeB magnets are supplied in compliance with the China RoHS requirements for electrical and electronic products.
China’s current standard, GB/T 26572-2011, limits six substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE. A new mandatory standard, GB 26572-2025, adds the same four phthalates as EU RoHS starting August 1, 2027. Our magnets already meet all ten limits.

Are totalElement neodymium magnets RoHS compliant?
Yes. All NdFeB magnets we supply comply with EU RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU as amended by Directive (EU) 2015/863). Each of the ten restricted substances is below its maximum concentration.
Are your magnets REACH compliant?
Yes. Our NdFeB magnets are supplied in compliance with EU REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, including Candidate List (SVHC) obligations, Annex XVII restrictions and Annex XIV authorization requirements. We can provide an SVHC status statement for specific items on request.
Why do magnets need a RoHS statement?
RoHS applies to finished electrical and electronic equipment. Magnets usually go inside that equipment, in motors, sensors, speakers and latches, so the company making the finished product needs to show that every component meets the limits.
Does nickel plating affect RoHS compliance?
No. Nickel isn’t one of the ten RoHS restricted substances. The limits apply to each homogeneous material, so the plating layers are measured on their own rather than averaged into the whole magnet. See magnet coating options.
Is China RoHS changing?
Yes. GB 26572-2025, China’s first mandatory RoHS standard, takes effect August 1, 2027. It expands the list from six to ten substances by adding DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP. Our magnets already meet all ten limits.
