Good magnets, exact dimensions. Learning curve to handling

I’m prototyping a small piece of furniture for production and got these magnets to test the actual size when compared to the website. I’d consider it essentially dead-on for woodworking purposes, they’re probably only oversized by some thousands of an inch from the plating, corresponding nicely with the slightly oversized cuts that sometimes happen naturally with woodworking bits. The bars I bought fit their matching router bits, the disks I got here as well fit with their matching Forstner bits.

What you will, however, end up buying extra magnets for is learning how you will handle them during assembly of your project. Set up a dedicated space, watch what tools enter that space, make safe areas to set things down so that they don’t influence others. Even the metal frame under the table I was working on once pulled a disk 3-4 inches over from where I set it-which shot it close enough to a bar I had set alone to attract it-and break the bar. A flathead screwdriver I set down in the work area attracted a disk once- spinning the screwdriver like a bottle and setting off a wave of magnets and small wooden parts on the table. Wear glasses.

To thin

The magnet is too thin. If it did not hit the metal all at once it broke apart. They also broke apart as we tried to out them close together and they would connect. If it did not connect all at once, they broke.

Powerful

I used epoxy to affix each magnet to a custom item I made. Allows me to attach to my car and remove as needed. Perfect for the task.

Exceptionally strong magnets.

Making a run of walnut hexagonal knife blocks for gifts. These grab just right through an eighth of an inch of wood, holding the blades securely. They are a tad expensive but they do the job well. I’m sure I will be buying more.
