Magnet Description
Our super strong 5/8 x 1/8 inch (Outer Diameter x Thickness) neodymium rare earth permanent disc magnets offer a powerful fastening solution in a relatively small footprint. With a pull force of 7.2 lbs, these grade N42 magnets are perfect for a wide range of applications, from home improvement projects to industrial and business use, as well as scientific research.
In home improvement projects, they can be used for DIY projects like building a magnetic knife holder or a magnetic spice rack, or even to secure art pieces on the wall.
In industrial and business applications, these magnets are ideal for holding metal objects in place during welding or assembly processes. They can also be used to hold signs or banners in place, making them ideal for trade shows or outdoor events.
These magnets also work well in leather goods, medical devices, X-ray shields, and more. Unlike other fasteners like velcro, which can be bulky and noticeable, magnets can be completely hidden from view, making them ideal for applications where aesthetics are important. Additionally, magnets are long-lasting and can withstand wear and tear better than other fasteners like adhesive or velcro.
If you're looking for a versatile and reliable fastener, our 5/8 x 1/8 inch (Outer Diameter x Thickness) grade N42 rare earth neodymium disc magnets are an excellent choice. Order now and experience the strength of these impressive magnets in your next project!
Sold in Matched North/South Pairs
This pack includes 8 magnets with the countersink on the north face and 8 with the countersink on the south face, so one of each makes a pair that attracts.
Mount one magnet from each group on opposite sides of a cabinet door, lid, latch or display, and their exposed faces will pull together. Before you install, sort the pack into two piles by testing which magnets attract face to face, then mark the piles so they don't get mixed up. If one side is steel instead, any magnet in the pack will work, since both poles attract steel equally.

Installing Countersunk Magnets: Snug, Not Tight
Tighten each screw only until its head sits flush with the magnet, then stop. Neodymium is hard but brittle, so it can't flex like a steel washer. Once the screw head seats, every extra turn wedges it deeper into the countersink and can crack the magnet around the hole.
Use #6 flat-head screws. Avoid pan-head and round-head screws, which press on the thin edge of the hole.
Drive the screw by hand when you can. If you use a drill/driver, set the clutch to a low number, drive slowly, stop about one turn early and finish by hand. Don't use an impact driver or drill mode. Mount the magnet on a flat surface over a pilot hole, because a bump or glue drip underneath can crack it as you tighten.
