MagSafe Magnet Instructions
MagSafe Neodymium Ring Assembly Installation & Usage Guide
Our Neodymium MagSafe Magnetic Ring Assemblies are designed to make it easy to integrate strong, reliable magnetic attachment into your products and devices.
These assemblies replicate the magnetic interface used in MagSafe-compatible devices and include both the main magnetic ring and the clocking (alignment) magnet to help ensure proper orientation and secure attachment.
Installation Overview
These assemblies are intended for internal installation only, meaning the magnets should not be exposed on the exterior of your product. Proper orientation and placement are important for best performance.
Correct Orientation
The magnet side of the assembly must face toward the phone. The metal backing ring, which holds the magnets together, forms the backside of the assembly and should face away from the phone.
This orientation helps ensure maximum magnetic strength and proper alignment with MagSafe-compatible devices.
Clocking (Alignment) Magnet Placement
Each assembly includes an optional clocking magnet, which helps control rotational alignment and keeps accessories from twisting out of position during use.
The clocking magnet should be placed directly below the main ring, aligned at the 6 o’clock position relative to the ring. It should sit centered horizontally and just below the inner circular ring assembly.
Correct placement of the clocking magnet helps accessories such as wallets, chargers, battery packs, and mounts snap into the proper position and remain aligned during use. However, it is not required, especially if orientation is not important in your application.
Recommended Protective Layer
For best results, place a thin protective layer, such as ABS plastic or a similar non-ferrous material, between the magnets and the phone.
A thin barrier helps protect the phone and your product from wear while still allowing strong magnetic performance. In most applications, keeping this layer as thin as possible will provide the best results.
Handling and Storage Precautions
Do not allow ring assemblies to come into direct contact with each other. These magnets are very strong and can snap together unexpectedly, which may cause chipping, cracking, or coating damage.
To separate magnets safely, slide them apart rather than pulling them straight away from each other.
Additional Integration Tips
For best performance, install the assembly into a housing made from non-ferrous materials such as plastic or aluminum. Avoid placing steel or other ferromagnetic materials between the assembly and the phone, as this can interfere with magnetic performance.
Careful centering of the ring assembly is also important for consistent alignment and attachment strength.
Summary
Magnet Side: Faces the phone.
Metal Backing Ring: Faces away from the phone.
Clocking Magnet: Placed at the 6 o’clock position below the ring.
Protective layer: Use a thin, non-ferrous barrier between the magnets and the phone.
